Solutions are sought through the application of living organisms and biotechnology aimed at both the adaptation of crops to situations of water scarcity and the treatment of waste or by-products, as well as their recovery.

Our society demands ever higher standards of sustainability. Improvements in waste management and the evolution of agricultural systems for ever lower water consumption are at the centre of many of the trends applied in the search for ever more sustainable systems. The use of living organisms and the techniques applied to adapt their behaviour to specific environments (genetic improvement or biotechnology) can offer solutions both in the adaptation of cultivation systems to situations of water scarcity and in the treatment of waste from wastewater treatment plants or plant remains.
